Despite cool and damp conditions, the third round of the 2016 Bourne Wheelers Time Trial League on the Greatford 10 mile course yielded a plethora of Personal Bests.
Tom Comben smashed his course PB, taking the Wheelers’ club course record with him going sub 23 minutes for the first time at Greatford with 22:52 – just 13 seconds off the course record of 22:39 set by Tom Neale (Corley Cycles) in 2014. Second on the night was Tony Gilbert who broke the 25 minute barrier with a PB of 24:59 followed by Cliff Hilless in third with 25:36.
In the Handicap competition, Damian Langdon took the win, taking 1min 12secs off his PB (29:33), Tom Comben second taking 15secs off his PB and Ian Davison third taking 17 secs off his PB (27:37).
In the youth competition, Dylan Snoek scooped both the scratch and handicap win with 28:50.
The Vets on Standard competition was won by Mike Smalley (Witham Wheelers), followed by Cliff Hilless and Tom Comben.
In the overall Scratch competition standings, Tom Comben has taken an early lead with 60 points, Chris Kettle is second (42 points) and Mike Smalley (Witham Wheelers) is third (37 points).
The Handicap competition is already heating-up with Ian Davison leading (42 points), closely followed by Chris Kettle (41 points) and Damian Langdon in third (40 points).
