Five Wheelers and 109 other brave souls took-on the full brunt of Storm Katie on course C10/10 at the Sleaford Wheelers Charity 10 Open TT on Saturday 26th March. A 25mph (gusting 40+) southerly wind and rain made for a very arduous outward leg down to Osbournby RAB, but a very quick return leg. Times were a minute or two down on normal, but that didn’t stop the winner (Mark Arnold – CC Desiragear) completing the course in a stunning 22:14… and on a 106″ fixie!
Tom Comben was the fastest Wheeler on the day posting a 24:21 (24th) with Cliff Hilless next with 25:49 (41st).
Chris Kettle, competing in his first ever Open, came home in 26:25 (53rd), Keith Munton came 61st in 26:50 and Ian Davison, also doing his first open TT, came 99th with 30:40.
2nd Claim riders were also out in force with Jason Burrill (Peterborough CC) 23:59 (18th), Antony Gough (Velo-One) 24:16 (22nd) and Mike Smalley (Witham Wheelers) 27:28 (67th).
