After a long three week wait, the official results are finally in from the Team Swift Open 10 TT back in mid-September.
5 Bourne Wheelers made the two hour trip north to represent the club in a strong field of 145 riders near Goole.
On the day Matt Green stole the show posting a super fast 20 mins 42 seconds over the 10 mile course and in doing so broke the 5 year old club record held by now professional rider Alistair Slater who rode a 20:59 at the National Junior Championships in 2010.
Matt’s ride was good enough for 14th place overall and he also took 2nd in his Group Category. Antony Gough took nearly two minutes of his personal best to come home 23rd overall, just ten seconds behind Matt in 20:52, enough to win his Group Category. Keith Munton finished 64th in 21:51, another personal best whilst Cliff Hilless (72nd in 22:07) and Simon Ayliff (111th in 23:23) also both beat their best ever times for the 10 mile event.
To complete a fantastic day for the club, Green, Gough and Munton also won the team prize, based on the three fastest rides for each club, to just edge out Team Swift on their home turf.
Other Bourne based riders taking part included Jason Burrill (Peterborough CC) who was 4th in 19:48 and Mike Smalley 61st in 21:45.
