The second round of the club mid-week TT League saw riders step up to the more familiar 10 mile distance over the Greatford course.
On a cool, windy night, 16 riders took to the start line, including local elite riders Steve Lampier, fastest on the night in 23 mins 5 secs, and Tom Neale.
It was business as usual in the scratch race with the top 3 coming home in the same order as race #1.
- Tom Comben 23mins 30 secs
- Matt Green @ 20 secs
- Stuart Boyd @ 1 min 47 secs.
Tom, Matt and Stuart have already emerged as the lead contenders for the overall title.
As always, the handicap championship is shaping up to a close affair right from the start with 5 riders separated by just 3 points after the first two races. On the night Jamie Nation (1st Junior) took the win from Mike Smalley and Cliff Hilless. Overall Mike and Stuart Handley hold the overall lead, with Cliff, Stuart Boyd and Chris Kettle all tied for 3rd just a few points back.
After winning all 10 events last year, Mike Smalley continues his dominance of the Vets League and secured back to back victories with another fantastic ride. PBs for Cliff and Tom saw them come 2nd and 3rd respectively for the second race in a row.
Well done to all who took part, especially those who set new course PBs on a challenging night 🙂
Next week the action moves to Peterborough and Round #1 of this year’s Hereward League competition with Spalding CC, Peterborough CC and Fenland Clarion.
