The penultimate round of the Bourne Wheelers Club TT League saw 11 riders face up to hot, humid and surprisingly windy conditions on the Greatford course.
In the scratch race it was business as usual with Tom Comben (23:41) taking the victory from Matt Green (24:39) and Antony Gough (26:30) and in the overall league these three riders have secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively for 2014.
The handicap competition continues to head for an exciting climax at the last race of the season with four riders still in contention. On the night newcomer Steve Dolby secured the victory in only his second race, but Mark Williamson took a vital second with Mike Smalley coming home third.
Overall Mark and Martin Rolbin are now tied in 1st place on 144 points, but as things stand Martin would take the win based on his two race wins to Mark’s single victory. However, with both riders having to now drop previous scores to gain further points Mark holds a slight advantage by virtue of having a lower scoring result to drop (6 points) compared to Martin (who will drop 8 points). To complicate things further Richard Lomas-Brown and Tom Comben are also tied in 3rd place just 5 points behind and they can both still win the title too!!
In the Vets category it was another win for Mike Smalley with Tom and Gerald Bone making up the podium places. Overall, Mike is already crowned Champion for 2014 and Tom and Cliff Hilless have secured 2nd and 3rd overall.
