(Report by Mark Botteley)
Last weekend saw the race season get under way and what a start the clubs riders had with 3 well deserved victories.
In the clubs open Hardriders time trial over the 14.3 mile Folkingham based course, Jason Burrill showed he is in fantastic form with a dominant victory, winning in a time of 33:44. Jason’s time was 4 secs to quick for local fast rider Brett Harwood, and the fact that Jason has done no specific time trial training this year shows that he will be the rider to beat this year.
The other Bourne riders backing Jason up were Andy Barnard 10th with a time of 36:40, Tom Comben 17th in 38:10 and Simon Ayliff 24th in 51:15
Also taking top honours over the weekend was Maddie Gammons, who in her first race since moving up to the under 16 category, was easily ahead of her nearest rival at Darley Moor.
The other victory for the clubs riders was by 2nd claim rider Sian Botteley who won her first ever race in the women’s circuit race at Milton Keynes Bowl, where her explosive sprint finish pulled her well clear of her rivals.
Other great performances were made by Tim James (5th), Adam Botteley (8th), both in the under 16’s; Jessica Woodworth (4th) in the under 14’s race; and Charley Woodworth (5th) in the under 10’s at Milton Keynes.
Mark Botteley and Campbell Pollock rode at Keysoe in the 30 mile NCRA handicap, with both showing good early season form finishing 5th and 15th respectively.
This weekend sees an equally busy race programme with most of the clubs road riders making there way to Milton Keynes again for the prestigious Phil Corley Circuit Races while Bart Kieres leads a 5 man team racing at Old in Northamptonshire in the latest NCRA handicap race.
