Race report

Wednesday evening saw 18 riders taking on the climb of Gumbrough Hill, in an effort to win the club hill climb championship. Quickest on the night was James Gelsthorpe with a time of 62.00 secs for the 0.4 mile climb. 2nd was Bart Kieres with 64.71 and 3rd Keith Munton with 69.31. First Junior was new member Conor Bavin with 69.64 in only his 2nd ever race. First youth was Campbell Pollock with 73.00, marginally ahead of first female rider Sian Botteley with 74.41. Other times were: Steve Colloins 74.41; Tim James 76.04; Steve Cleland 78.30; Dan Burton 82.66; Adam Botteley 83.75; Maddie Gammons 89.12; Cliff Hilless 89.31; Jamie Nation 90.31 and Robbie Ward 107.53sec. Non members: Eddie Nation 73.52 and Louise Day 83.80

At the weekend a small team took part in the first round of the Lincs Cyclo-cross League at Scunthorpe. Tim James was the pick of the wheelers with a fine 3rd place in the youth race despite mechanical issues at the start of the race, that saw him drop down to the back of the 20 rider field. Also racing well was Aaron Bateman who placed 10th. In the senior race, Bournes sole representative, Mark Robinson, placed 20th out of a field of 70 riders. Last week,Sian Botteley, took part in the National Track Championships at Manchester. Riding in the two distance races Sian rode really well, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the final of the 10km scratch race placing 13th in her semi final, one place off qualifying. In the 15km points race, Sian placed 21st overall in a race run off at an average speed of 28mph

This weekend sees Sian and Adam Botteley, Maddie Gammons and Campbell Pollock taking part in the National 10 mile championship race for schoolchildren at Newbury. The following day the riders, backed up with a full comliment of team mates will aim for victory at Barkston in the East Midlands Circuit Championships.
