Wednesday night saw the wheelers competing in the 3rd round of the Be-Well Evening 10 league around the hilly Essendine-Witham on the Hill circuit. The race also acted as a dress rehearsal for their “home” leg of the annual Hereward League in 2 weeks time.
Confirming his position as favourite for the evening league, James Gelsthorpe scored his 3rd consecutive victory with a very rapid 29: 08. 2nd over 2mins behind was Mark Botteley with 31: 34, with Keith Munton making up the top 3 just 3 secs further adrift.
The accompanying handicap competition is developing into a real cracker with the 3rd different winner in as many weeks. On this occasion, it was 12 year old Adam Botteley who came out on top with 38:40. 2nd on handicap and the quickest of the 8 youths participating was Campbell Pollock with 32: 03. Tim James was 3rd on handicap with 34: 40 and now leads the handicap competition overall.
